PtRuP, a mixed metal phosphide with a CaF2-type structure featuring randomly distributed Pt and Ru atoms in tetrahedral sites, was synthesized and exhibited catalytic activity toward the electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction, whereas the corresponding single metal phosphides were essentially inactive over the same overpotential range.
