Abstract
None:
A simple method to introduce NiS2 into 1T phase MoS2 to strengthen the Mo-H bonds during the seawater electrolysis, which improves the structural stability of the MoS2 catalyst, is presented. 1TMoS2-NiS2/CC achieved an ultra-low overpotential and a Tafel slope of 45.9 mV dec-1. The seawater electrolysis device only needs 1.67 V to achieve 100 mA cm-2, and run continuously for 100 h.

In a galvanic cell, the electrical work is done by a redox system on its surroundings as electrons produced by the spontaneous redox reactions are transferred through an external circuit. Alternatively, an external circuit does work on a redox system by imposing a voltage sufficient to drive an otherwise nonspontaneous reaction in a process known as electrolysis. For instance, recharging a battery involves the use of an external power source to drive the spontaneous (discharge) cell reaction in...

Oxidative phosphorylation is a highly efficient process that generates large amounts of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the basic unit of energy that drives many cellular processes. Oxidative phosphorylation involves two processes— the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis.
