Education 5.0: Technological transformations and health perspectives for sustainable development

This article discusses the potential of frontier technologies to boost education in the context of Education 5.0, along with analyzing educational issues, their effects on students' health, and how to overcome these issues. Technologies like IoT, AR, ML, VR, CC, DS, and AI have the potential to revolutionize the education sector, each playing its own distinct role to maximize learning, teaching, and institutional management.

Two web-based surveys were administered in an Engineering college: one of 313 students and 67 educators to determine comfort with the use of digital technology, and a second of 115 students to examine academic pressures and stressors.

Results focus on the two-sided effect of digital technologies: while they offer possibilities for more customized and interactive learning, they also increase stress, sleep disturbance, and workload issues, which lead to poor mental health.

The convergence of new technologies in Education 5.0 has the potential to transform teaching and learning, but long-term adoption needs alignment with health policy standards. Approaches like WHO's Health policies framework and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 4: Quality Education) emphasize the convergence of innovation with students' well-being. Embedding these benchmarks into institutional planning ensures that Education 5.0 supports both academic excellence and the long-term health of learners.
