In human women, oogenesis produces one mature egg cell or ovum for every precursor cell that enters meiosis. Summary

Early endometriosis detection is possible through targeted imaging in symptomatic women. Augmented pelvic ultrasound and MRI can aid in early diagnosis and presurgical mapping, improving outcomes for high-risk groups.
