Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) bilirubin is a sensitive biomarker for bilirubin neurotoxicity in extremely preterm infants, especially when serum bilirubin is low. Measuring CSF bilirubin can guide timely interventions for better neurodevelopmental outcomes.
