Abstract:
Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) declines with aging due to cardiovascular, muscular, and vascular changes, markedly increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, frailty, and loss of independence. Sedentary behavior accelerates reductions in Vo2max, worsens body composition, and impairs myocardial and vascular function. In contrast, regular exercise across the lifespan attenuates age-related declines in CRF, improves myocardial compliance, vascular health, metabolic profile, and reduces morbidity and mortality. Exercise benefits extend to primary and secondary prevention, heart failure, and frailty management. Although adaptations are attenuated with advanced age, meaningful improvements remain achievable, underscoring exercise as a cornerstone of cardiovascular health.

Exercise and Cardiovascular Response
Light to moderate physical activity initiates a series of interconnected responses in the body. The heart rate modestly increases in anticipation of the workout, followed by widespread vasodilation as oxygen consumption by skeletal muscles increases. This results in decreased peripheral resistance, increased capillary blood flow, and accelerated...

Endurance exercises
Endurance exercises involve running, swimming, or cycling, which require repetitive movements with low force output. When a person engages in endurance exercise, a few noticeable changes occur in their skeletal muscles. For instance, the number of capillaries...
