Cardiorenal syndrome refers to the coexistence of renal and cardiac dysfunction. The morbidity and mortality rates are high. Frequent in clinical practice, it encompasses heterogeneous situations with complex mechanisms that are often difficult to identify and manage. Its recognition and understanding are essential, both for diagnosis and therapeutic decisions. This article provides an updated summary of cardiorenal syndrome, based on recent pathophysiological and clinical data, with a particular focus on the acute forms encountered in cardiology.
