Cyclic allenes are a unique class of organic compounds, interest in which has increased dramatically since the inclusion of heteroatoms such as oxygen, sulfur, and especially nitrogen in the ring. Heterocyclic allenes can be subdivided into highly reactive synthons and stable compounds with useful properties. By varying only the reaction time we can control the regioselectivity of the process and synthesize two types of pyrrole-fused diazecines including a rare class of compounds─diazacyclic allenes.
