Successful Scale-up of Syphilis Testing Linked to Routine HIV Viral Load Monitoring in British Columbia

Syphilis rates are increasing, but testing frequency is often inadequate. We examined syphilis screening among people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in British Columbia between 2015 and 2019. Testing increased significantly during this time and was largely linked to routine HIV viral load monitoring. Frequent testing was associated with men who have sex with men, Vancouver residence, and HIV-focused care.
