Summary
This study presents the first laparoscopic gastric surgery using the ANSUR robotic assistant for a gastrointestinal stromal tumor. The novel approach proved safe and feasible, enabling efficient tumor resection with minimal assistance.
Area of Science:
- Minimally Invasive Surgery
- Surgical Robotics
- Gastroenterology
Background:
- Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Laparoscopic surgery offers benefits over open procedures but can be challenging for complex resections.
- Robotic assistance is emerging in surgery to enhance precision and control.
