Introduction:
Valid and feasible measures are needed of influences on mental health of postpartum women. We tested reliability and validity of the Sources of Stress-Short Form (SoS-SF) and Postpartum Coping Scales-Short Form (PCS-SF).
Methods:
The alpha statistic estimated reliability and correlations with established stress and coping scales estimated validity.
Results:
The SoS-SF subscales were significantly correlated with the established stress scale (Spearman correlations of 0.57 to 0.28). The PCS-SF subscales were significantly correlated with the established coping scale (Spearman correlations of 0.72 to 0.18).
Conclusion:
The SoS-SF and PCS-SF are reasonably reliable and valid scales for use in mental health.
