Abstract:
We report the magneto-chiral dichroism (MChD) of chiral tetrakis-type Eu(III) complexes in organic media. The obtained magneto-chiral anisotropy factor (|gMChD| = 0.015 T-1) is the highest reported to date for solution-phase systems, offering important insights into the future development of magneto-chiral photochemical applications.

Conjugated systems containing an even number of π-electron pairs undergo a conrotatory ring closure. For example, thermal electrocyclization of (2E,4E)-2,4-hexadiene, a conjugated diene containing two π-electron pairs, gives trans-3,4-dimethylcyclobutene.
