Abstract:
Fatigue is a common and distressing symptom among critically ill burn patients, particularly those receiving respiratory support. Fatigue may reduce respiratory function, delay recovery, and prolong hospitalization. Inspiratory muscle training has emerged as a promising nonpharmacological intervention aimed at strengthening respiratory muscles and improving breathing efficiency. However, limited evidence exists regarding the effectiveness of this intervention in reducing fatigue among critically ill burn patients receiving oxygen therapy. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of inspiratory muscle training on fatigue in burn intensive care units in Baghdad, Iraq. The results of the study showed that inspiratory muscle training was effective in reducing fatigue and improving respiratory function among critically ill burn patients receiving high-flow nasal oxygen therapy.
