Sinusoidal grating-based digital visual training improves multidimensional perceptual eye position in strabismus

Objective:
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of digital visual training on the improvement of multidimensional perceptual eye position in patients with strabismus.
Methods:
Forty patients with strabismus admitted to Jiangxi Provincial Children's Hospital between January 2025 and June 2025 were enrolled in the study. Participants underwent digital visual training for 4 weeks. Multidimensional perceptual eye positions of the patients including the static horizontal eye position, the static vertical eye position, the dynamic horizontal eye position and the dynamic vertical eye position were assessed prior to and following the training.
Results:
Significant improvements were observed in all four dimensions of perceptual eye positions of patients with strabismus following training (all p < 0.05). A significant positive correlation was identified between the improvement effects of static and dynamic horizontal eye positions (p < 0.05); as well as between the improvement effects of static and dynamic vertical eye positions (p < 0.05).
Conclusion:
Digital visual training effectively enhances the multidimensional perceptual eye position of patients with strabismus. These findings support the potential of this approach as a novel, non-surgical adjunctive treatment option for the clinical rehabilitation of patients with strabismus.
