None:
CO2 capture by Re(I) catalysts bearing deprotonated triethanolamine, a key step in catalytic CO2 reduction, was investigated kinetically and thermodynamically. The rate-determining step is nucleophilic attack of the coordinating oxygen atom on CO2. Electron-donating substituents on the bipyridine ligand accelerate this step by rendering its activation entropy less negative.
