The Tripartite Influence Model: New conceptualizations and measurement strategies based on an evolving social media
1University of South Florida, United States.
Abstract:
The metastasizing of social media from a nodule of internet foci - Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube - to far flung lymph nodes of AI, ChatGPT, Grok, and beyond, aided by blood flow provided by AI silicon tech-savants, often without a moral compass, can easily overwhelm the need to return to our rock foundations of research, and what changes we must make to keep us in step with the often capricious improvisations of the latest social media dance craze. In this commentary, I suggest how an evolution of measurement and theory, can provide a framework for future work in the area of social media and body image.
