Abstract:
The postoperative period after transsphenoidal resection of a pituitary tumor is critical for the detection and management of endocrine, visual, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-related complications. We describe the structured approach tailored to patients undergoing microscope-assisted transsphenoidal resection used at our institution. This step-by-step postoperative protocol, refined over years of multidisciplinary care in a high-volume pituitary surgery practice, emphasizes early recognition of diabetes insipidus, management of hormonally active tumors, careful CSF leak monitoring, and clear discharge planning.
