Abstract:
We report mechanically flexible diphenylpenta-2,4-dienenitrile molecular crystals that exhibit unprecedented light-driven flagella-like bending, first away from and then toward the light source, enabled by the first solid-state [3]-ladderane-type photocycloaddition in an organic crystal, thereby opening new avenues for next-generation photoresponsive devices.
