None:
A novel class of cationic polycyclic heteroaromatic compounds (cPHACs) based on an imidazo[1,2-f]phenanthridinium (IP) core has been developed via cascade annulation between N-aryl-imidazolium salts and dihalobenzenes through Ru(II)/Ru(IV)-mediated dual C(sp2)-Br activation. These planar, water-soluble, and fluorescent molecules show strong DNA intercalation (Kd in the µM range).
