The fault-tolerant control problem for nonlinear switched stochastic systems affected by unknown inputs, sensor faults, and actuator faults is studied. Functional observers are adopted to reconstruct linear combinations of system states and faults, with the outcomes directly integrated into the controller synthesis process. The generalized inverse technique is utilized to decouple unknown inputs and disturbances. In contrast to conventional observer design strategies, the proposed scheme dispenses with the necessity of estimating all system states and faults, which remarkably decreases the number of estimated variables and thereby cuts down the computational cost of estimation. A fault-tolerant control framework based on functional observers is developed to guarantee the mean-square exponential stability of the closed-loop systems. Two simulation cases are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Feedback control systems
Linear feedback systems are theoretical models that simplify analysis and design. These systems operate under the principle that their output is directly proportional to their input within certain ranges. For instance, an amplifier in a control system behaves linearly as long as the input signal remains within a specific range. However, most physical systems exhibit inherent nonlinearity...

BIBO stability of continuous and discrete -time systems
To determine the BIBO stability, the convolution integral is utilized when a bounded continuous-time input is applied to a Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) system.
Linear time-invariant Systems
The input-output behavior of an LTI system can be fully defined by its response to an impulsive excitation at its input. Once this impulse response is known, the system's reaction to any other input can be calculated...

An open-loop control system operates without feedback from the output. It consists of two primary elements: the controller and the controlled process. The controller receives an input signal and...
