Aqueous pure silica zeolite-based microporous liquids, also known as microporous water, show interesting properties based on their internal hydrophobic and external hydrophilic chemistry. Here we show, using 17O NMR spectroscopy that the water, in which the nanoparticle zeolites are dispersed, exchanges with the external surface of the pure silica material.
