[Brief summary on acupuncture-moxibustion education in ancient China and thinking on disciplinary innovation]

Optimizing talent training mode in acupuncture-moxibustion discipline is the key to promote its high-quality development. The ancient acupuncture-moxibustion education has a long history and accumulates a rich experience, which provides a valuable reference nowadays. The paper summarizes two major systems of ancient Chinese acupuncture- moxibustion education, folk education and official education, extracts the core advantages such as "practice orientation", "personalized inheritance", "resource integration" and "examination standardization"; and explores deeply their potential values for the development of contemporary acupuncture-moxibustion education. From a new perspective, it is proposed that the ancient acupuncture-moxibustion education enlightens the innovative approaches to the development of modern acupuncture-moxibustion discipline, i.e. optimizing the education models, integrating the classic with the frontier, building digital and intelligent education ecosystem, promoting regional coordination and development, as well as international communication. It aims to provide theoretical supports and innovative ideas for the systematic and international development of acupuncture-moxibustion discipline in the new era.
