Orthopaedic trauma training is increasingly shaped by navigation systems, robotics, advanced intraoperative imaging, and digital planning tools. These advances improve precision and expand what is technically possible, but their growing role in surgical education raises an important question: as training becomes more technology-mediated, are we adequately protecting the tactile and interpretive skills that trauma surgery still depends on? This commentary argues that embodied surgical judgment-the capacity to read the operative field through instrument feel, anatomical reasoning, and adaptive decision making-remains essential to safe trauma care. In resource-variable settings, where imaging and implant availability cannot be assumed, this judgment is especially important. We propose practical educational strategies to preserve it and argue that the future of trauma training should be defined not by a choice between technology and tradition but by deliberate integration of both.
