Abstract:
Chiral lanthanide complexes, as an important category of multifunctional molecular materials, have been widely applied in circularly polarized luminescence, asymmetric catalysis and magnetoelectric coupling. In this work, we report the first pair of lanthanide-[4]helicene enantiomers, which possess a strong axiality and exhibit a large anisotropy barrier of ca. 500 cm-1 at zero field. They are also the first examples of heterochiral lanthanide-helicene species, wherein the two axially coordinated deprotonated [4]helicene-2-hydroxy ligands display opposite helical chirality.
