Abstract:
The title compound, C6H8N+·C8H4NO6 -·H2O, crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal space group C2/c. An N-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed between the 3-methyl-pyridinium cation and the 5-nitro-isophthalate anion. The crystal packing is consolidated by an extensive network of inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, further reinforced by π-π inter-actions.
