Abstract:
The Evans calcaneal osteotomy is a powerful lateral column lengthening procedure that creates multiplanar correction in the flexible flatfoot deformity. The procedure was popularized within podiatric medicine and surgery by Dr James V. Ganley. The Podiatry Institute faculty modified the procedure over the years. It has stood the test of time as a reliable procedure with good bone healing and predictable radiographic correction. This article describes its history along with its indications, surgical technique, and possible complications.
