Abstract:
Isolation of Bacteroidota is crucial in microbial ecology laboratories because these organisms play important roles in the environment, including relevant interactions with plants and animals. Therefore, effective methods are needed for their successful isolation. Here, we describe modified Soil Extract (SE), Tryptic Soy (TS), and Reasoner's 2A (R2A) culture media that facilitate the isolation of Bacteroidota, primarily by addressing their auxotrophies and specific growth requirements. This approach enables both morphological and molecular identification of the isolates.
