Abstract:
Amber has a significant role in science, traditional medicine, art, education, and communication. Fossil amber inclusions are relevant for the study of the history and evolution of life on Earth. Amber has also been associated with allergic reactions in some individuals, and thus protocols should be implemented to reduce these risks when working with amber. In this chapter, we describe the experimental approaches to process fossil amber and measures to reduce the risks associated with allergic reactions to this fossilized tree resin. These methods allow the processing of amber pieces for the study of fossil organism inclusions.
