Abstract:
Eleven new isocoumarin derivatives, polyplanrins A-K (1-11), and three known isocoumarin derivatives (12-14), were isolated from the medicinal insect Polyphaga plancyi Bolivar. The structures of all the compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, computational methods, and X-ray crystallography. Compounds 1, 2, 5-7, and 11 were obtained as racemates, and their (-)- and (+)-enantiomers were separated by chiral HPLC. Biological assays revealed that 3 and (-)-11 exhibit renoprotective effects in a dose-dependent manner.
