DSM-III field trials: II. Initial experience with the multiaxial system

The multiaxial system of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Third Edition (DSM-III) shows fair to good reliability for assessing psychosocial stressors and adaptive functioning. Clinicians found the system useful, despite challenges in quantifying stressor severity.
