[A case of giant prostatic hypertrophy].

Background:

Giant prostatic hypertrophy is defined as prostate adenoma weighing over 200 grams.
This condition is rare, with limited reported cases in the Japanese literature.

Observation:

An 82-year-old male presented with a significantly enlarged prostate gland.
The resected prostate adenoma weighed 270 grams.

Findings:

Pathological examination revealed adenomatous hyperplasia of the prostate.
This case represents the sixth heaviest giant prostatic hypertrophy reported in Japan.

Implications:

Highlights the successful surgical management of extremely large prostate adenomas.
Contributes to the understanding and documentation of rare cases of giant prostatic hypertrophy.
