The tumour consisted of the nodes showing leiomyolike (spindle cell), pericytic, acinar-trabecular and solid structure; some cells resembled goblet cells. The diagnosis was precised by electron microscopy of the material fixed in formaldehyde in the course of which the neurosecretory granules in the tumour cell cytoplasm were revealed.
