    Background:

    • To determine the allergenic activity of five purified horse allergens.
    • To evaluate the correlation between specific IgE antibodies and histamine release.

    • Twenty-two children with confirmed horse allergy were included.
    • Leukocyte histamine release assays were performed with four epidermal horse allergens (Ags 6, 9, 11, 15) and horse serum albumin.
    • Crossed radioimmunoelectrophoresis was used to generate individual allergoprints.
