The correction of different types of prominent ears

Auricular cartilage, freed posteriorly from prestressing factors such as muscle and connective tissue, can readily be maintained in a chosen shape by permanently buried, nonabsorbable sutures. In the absence of an antihelix fold, this can be created at the optimum site. In the presence of an existing antihelix fold and deep concha, this fold can be obliterated and a new, more central fold created, making use of the excessive conchal tissue.
