Abstract:
A 6 year old previously healthy girl developed an acute thrombocytopenia of 13000 platelets per cm3 that lead to the diagnosis of selective IgA deficiency and antinuclear antibodies in this patient. Platelet numbers became normal within 4 weeks, but the antinuclear antibodies persisted. The reported case represents another example of an immunoregulatory disorder in children with "idiopathic" thrombocytopenia.
