    Background:

    • Pigmented paravenous chorioretinal atrophy (PPCA) is a rare, inherited retinal disorder.
    • Its etiology remains unknown, presenting with characteristic fundus findings.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the long-term clinical course and functional impact of PPCA.
    • To characterize the progression of fundus abnormalities and visual function in affected individuals.

    Main Methods:

    • Longitudinal study of six patients diagnosed with PPCA.
    • Ophthalmoscopic examination and retinal function tests were performed over 3 to 21 years.

    Main Results:

    • Diagnosis based on bilateral, symmetrical bone spicule accumulation along retinal veins.
    • Retinal function tests indicated a geographic, not generalized, disorder.
    • Five patients showed stable ophthalmoscopic and functional status; one patient had mild progression over 21 years.

    • Central visual acuity is typically preserved, with minimal progression observed in severe cases.
