Abstract:
The method by which the tear fluid exits from the region of the palpebral fissure has been actively contested for several centuries. By combining the observations of two independent investigators who reported their work nearly 70 years ago with current studies using contemporary techniques of high-speed photography, a compatible explanation of the tear drainage process can be presented.
