Abstract:
In many ways Hildegard von Bingen was honoured in 1979 in memory of the 800th anniversary of her death. Hildegard was not only the mystical visionary and prophetess of the middle ages, she was for her time also a practical thinking physician with an enormous scientific knowledge. In her books "physica" and "causae et curae" numerous clinical pictures of dermatological diseases are described as well as therapeutical advices given which offer a wide insight into the knowledge of skin diseases of this period of monastery medicine.
