Abstract:
Three uterine sarcomas histologically diagnosed as differentiated leiomyosarcomas were studied electron microscopically for differential diagnosis. The study showed not all highly differentiated uterine sarcomas to be of myogenic origin. The histological diagnosis of differentiated leiomyosarcoma which consists mostly of spindle-shaped and elongated cells may often cover tumours of different histogenetic composition. In our material, electron microscopy established leiomyosarcoma in 2 cases, and sarcoma of the fibroblastic type in 1 case.
