[Immunodiagnosis of pneumococcal infection in lung diseases]
Abstract:
The possibility of the identification of pneumococcal infection by means of serological tests was demonstrated. The etiological importance of pneumococci was determined on the basis of the presence of the pneumococcal antigen and the corresponding antibodies in the blood of patients with acute pneumonia. Simultaneously the level of circulating antibodies and their breakdown were studied. This allowed to evaluate the intensity of the elimination of the antigen from the body and enhanced the sensitivity of tests.
