[Diagnosis and surgical treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms]

The results of surgical treatment of 26 patients for aneurysm of the abdominal aorta are analysed. Planned operations were carried out on 21 patients. Twenty patients recovered. In 2 of 5 patients with complicated forms of the aneurysm the outcome was favourable. Resection of the aneurysm of the abdominal aorta with prosthetics of the affected segment is the only radical method of treatment. In aortic aneurysm and affection of the visceral and renal arteries, one-stage correction of the pathological condition is indicated. Simultaneous correction of the abnormality of the abdominal organs does not cause an increase in postoperative mortality.
