[Genodermatoses as an indication for the interruption of pregnancy: hereditary epidermolysis]
Abstract:
From a medical point of view, an eugenic indication is under consideration when the fetus is suffering from a lethal, semi-lethal or subvital congenital disease. Of the different types of hereditary epidermolysis, Herlitz syndrome and recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa including the inverse form, are indications for interruption. In all three diseases inheritance is autosomal-recessive. Eugenic postulates for interruption are realized only partly or not at all by the remaining types of epidermolysis. A prenatal examination being impossible in epidermolysis, genetic counseling after the birth of an ill child is of great importance.
