Abstract:
Hepatitis B is an infectious disease, which can also be transmitted by contact. Blood and secretory products of the body may be infectious. The extent and mode of contact as well as the quantity of infectious agents probably are responsible for the extent and course of the disease. Morbidity of hepatitis B is known: hepatitis B still is acquired in most cases by inoculation or blood transfusion. There seems to be a subclinical epidemic process mainly due to contact infection: the extent of this process can at the best only be estimated. The role of the different secretory products of the body in this process has not yet been clarified.
