Summary

Halothane anesthesia slightly prolonged corrected sinus node recovery time (CSNRT) in children with congenital heart disease. However, sinus node function remained well-preserved overall under this anesthetic agent.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the impact of halothane anesthesia on sinus node recovery time (SNRT) in children.
  • To assess whether halothane affects the electrophysiological recovery of the sinus node.

  • Nine pediatric patients with CHD undergoing cardiac catheterization were studied.
  • Sinus node pacing was performed at various rates (120, 150, 180 bpm) under control and halothane anesthesia (1 MAC).
