Abstract:
Pituitary adenomas account for about 15% of all intracranial neoplasms. Patients with symptoms and signs of pituitary axis dysfunction or visual field deficits frequently are referred for diagnostic imaging procedures. Magnetic resonance imaging is the modality of choice for evaluating the sellar and juxta-sellar region. MRI provides multiplanar images with superior tissue contrast differentiation. This article describes how MRI is used to image pituitary macroadenomas.
