Pharmacology of incontinence

Any type of filling or storage failure and urethral incontinence results from the following abnormalities: accommodation of increasing volumes of urine at a low intravesical pressure and with appropriate sensation, a bladder outlet that is closed at rest and remains so during increase in intra-abdominal pressure, and absence of involuntary bladder contraction. This article discusses the pharmacologic therapy that is effective in the management of many types of voiding dysfunction.
