A study of the surface pH of the urinary bladder during distension in rabbits
Abstract:
Bladder wall surface pH has been continuously monitored with a glass pH electrode using a simple, atraumatic technique. Experiments have been performed in the rabbit showing that there is a progressive fall in bladder wall pH as the intravesical pressure is increased. The changes in bladder wall pH serve as a sensitive indicator of bladder blood flow and so this simple method is used to assess the changes in bladder blood flow during distension.
