Recruiting minority faculty members: strategies along the pipeline
Journal of National Black Nurses' Association : JNBNA
|January 1, 1993
Abstract:
For minority faculty recruitment and retention to be effective, long-term goals must be set to pursue comprehensive, institutional efforts. These efforts must address those pipeline issues dealing with limited pools of potential applicants. The purpose of this discussion is threefold: (a) to address student issues when attempting to impact minority faculty recruitment and retention; (b) to exemplify the essential elements in institutional planning for faculty affirmative action; and (c) to present specific faculty initiatives, including search committees, targets of opportunities, "show cause" strategies, developmental activities, and retention considerations.
