Summary

This study examined how allergy specialists in Orange County, California, conduct skin testing for airborne allergens. They collected data from 271 patients and found that 115 different allergen extracts were used, far exceeding the recommended maximum of 30. Tree pollens and Bermuda grass were the most common allergens, with high sensitization rates. However, rat dander showed minimal reactions. The study highlights a need to align testing practices with established guidelines to improve consistency and patient care.
