Background:

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic condition characterized by bladder pain and urinary urgency.
Accurate diagnosis of IC can be challenging due to its complex and often overlapping symptoms with other lower urinary tract disorders.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe the morphologic changes observed in interstitial cystitis (IC) using various diagnostic techniques.
To evaluate the utility of biopsies in the diagnosis of IC.

Main Methods:

Examination of biopsies from patients with interstitial cystitis.
Utilized light microscopy for cellular and tissue structure analysis.
Employed ultrastructural, immunologic, and immunohistochemical methods to identify specific markers and changes.

Main Results:

Morphologic alterations were identified through light microscopy.
